We need active moderation. There's too much garbage being uploaded, as well as a lot of stolen work. Half the reason I can see the site declining is the lack of quality uploads.
But then again, I haven't been active in a few years.
Thanks for starting this thread pacman. There is definitely a lot to be done, so please do voice your suggestions on what the priorities should be to get things exciting again.
To start, I agree with you guys in that the first step is some active moderation. If anyone would like to be an admin, please PM me!
@lamplighter np guy, i'm agree with all of you, this site need moderation, there to lot ss with to many stuff (and some are bads) I think there are other problems even if the moderate one still the most important. For exemple, we need new category.
I think its a good idea too. For example I was searching for how to ask for a certain theme. I would like someone to create a Moleskine xp/w7 theme. Thanx!
Sorry, I'm still new here. When i saw those box-man wallpapers on here, i assumed that a user could upload something by another person as long as they don't take credit for it. Wow! That sounds like a bad thing to do now that i think about it! I have deleted all of my uploads that weren't originally made by me. My apologies. :(
there are a new section in this site after the ask of yboris, so there someone still alive. Someone should designate some new moderator like nitzua, i think its a serious people ( i saw him on pixelfucker and he have good advise and give godd critic)
deleting comments from your submissions is a slippery slope. It allows users to remove negative comments about their bad work, which means you don't get criticism. Thus defeating the point of the comment system.
The mods on this site come back at this point only around once a year. This is why they need to allow someone to take on the task.

A CAPTCHA system would be rather annoying, unless it had memory (cookie based) of after 5 or so correct CAPTCHA's it no longer showing up for real users.
Unfortunately as some of the spam "bots" have also been uploading (meaning they may have real users behind them). It would be possible for them to circumvent that.
I'll try to keep myself in check with the spam and remove those posts when applicable.
Also, if you could, could you please do something about the tochpc user- he posts images of the XP Themes he has, then he comments a link to an irritatingly horrible website- it's gotten really old- he's just as bad as a bot to me- most of the XP Themes category is his trash.
I see max is back ,and if understand rush68 is a moderator now. also what you going to do about bad stuff like screenshot with too much stuf on it. Like BlakFyr999 says almost screenshot should move in a trash category. Anyway if you still need help, i coluld give a hand.
That's something we are working on pacman, but there is a clash between taste on the site, some people think the "trash" screenshots are amazing, and think the style that you would be using to be boring. (not something I agree on)
Incoming tl;dr post. I'm going to speak as both a user and to some extent as an admin of the site right now, I don't speak for the site itself however, just my own personal ideas of how things work here.
I entirely agree it's a slippery slope. However a couple of years ago, most of the "junk content" we could have deleted as it wouldn't be excepted as quality on this site. The old mods used to (and i still do) follow by this statement.

It wasn't censorship as much as it was quality management as it seemed customize wanted to differentiate itself as a website, (I had content removed in that time, when I figured out why I didn't complain i just tried to improve to meet the standard of quality). However, times have changed, the site has been through a lot and old and new users have come and gone so that "level of quality" doesn't exist as what we saw it. It has to be found and redefined.
No matter what though, what the standards are at now however is sub-par for what customize used to or should represent, and I believe this is something any user can notice if they go through the tons of old postings. I could cite examples, or this and that, but it boils down to personal taste and the communities taste.
I personally think it's time that some guidelines be set to stop the influx of what a lot of people on the site have been complaining about.
You right but in the over hand , try i think to do like the other so if you see in my opinion "trash" you will do the same thing. I think we should find an alternative. Maybe first, it's just a suggestion, we could do a guide or kind of "how-to".
After, maybe in move the submission in a category, like "need improvement" or i don't"
It's just an idea, i think we should delete some submission becaus you see, in pixelfucker, it's work well, eve if we could be more indulgent. I don't think what just comment and tell to someone "you put to more stuff in your submission" can help because we could just pass as a bad guy (or a spam bot ^^) In my opinion, i'm agree with rush (sorry canuckken)
Balance is everything guys.. I get what you are saying Cannuckken but how can one create something of substantial quality if they have no point of reference?
There are no hostility in my words (if you think there are i'm sorry). I just try to be constructive and i respect ideas of canuckken. It's why i sugest some things above but canuckken is right too.
I like the idea the idea to be really more restrective on credits like says canuckken to prevent copyright issues.
i think we could be more strict on the resolution of wallpaper, some of them are just picture.
