as an avid bibliophile, i'm curious as to what everyone is currently reading or planning to read this summer.
as for myself, i'm reading several series and am about to start in on a book called fugitives of chaos (quantum physics meets greek mythology meets dimentional theory of a sort...quite good even if you don't know much about any of those subjects). after that...um...i have no idea! there's a huge stack waiting and nearly a month until the final harry potter book... :)
anyway...what are you reading? feel free to share recommendations as well!
I don't read as much as I'd like. 'Cause I get pissed off at my slowness. But I'm currently reading Emily of New Moon, and would like to get onto the second book by this summer.
Sadly, my reading has all but ground to a halt lately. That said, I have a bookmarked copy of Bret Easton Ellis' The Rules of Attraction in my car, a bookmarked Allen Ginsberg poetry anthology on the back of my couch, and a bookmarked copy of You Shall Know Our Velocity! by Dave Eggers on my desk, here. And I plan to stop by Borders before work tomorrow to pick up Arthur Nersesian's The Fuck-Up.
@Thomax: I've read all of Dan Brown's books, including "Angels & Demons." I hope that, if you haven't already, read some of his others as well. I really liked A&D, but "Deception Point" is also very good if you like thrillers.
I'm currently reading Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" for a course I'll be taking... can't wait for Harry Potter #7 though...
imho Dan Brown is hardly a good writer but his books has some highlights I guess. I found Deception Point and Digital Fortress to be outright bad and predictable. But I kinda liked Angels and Demons.
I'm mostly into science fiction and fantasy stuff. Neal Stephensons Cryptonomicon is a great book, and China Mieville has some fantastically inventive books (Perdido Street Station, The Scar, etc).
Just finished Job: Comedy of Justice by Heimlein... meh Currently reading The Rainmaker by Grisham for the 3rd time... next up is reread of Harry Potter 6, yep, thats right... my favorite author is Orson Scott Card, so if you are looking for something new, give it a try... Ender's Game is most well known, but I highly recommend the Alvin Maker series
wow puer, that's a lot of books! there's a lot of good ones in there too. gl with the philosophy books. plato and aristotle are two of my favorite philosophers to read. but, then again, the classics are always the best philosophies.
Plato is definitely the most entertaining philosopher to read, imho. Socrates can be such a lovable ass ;-) However, I do think that I like the more modern philosophies (last century) more than the classical ones when it comes to the actual content.
