What are you guys running?

I'm a rather new Arch user, and am extremely happy I made the switch. Ubuntu was easy, but not nearly as fast or flexible.

Also, while you're at it, what WM are you guys using?

Currently I'm tinkering with Openbox.

Guides to customizing Ubuntu

I have been using Ubutu for about a month now. I am having a bit of trouble to figure out which programs to use for customizing. So far I have tried Emerald, AWN and of course GTK files, but I was wondering if any of you guys know a good guide, introduction og tutorial to customizing your desktop?

pixmaps

Hi all,

I installed the following theme on fluxbox

http://customize.org/fluxbox/themes/63301

Everything is fine except for the window buttons. I can open the xpm files in the /pixmaps directory with gthumb and see what I am supposed to have, but the new buttons don't load. I assume that the theme.cfg file is supposed to just automagically reference what is in the pixmaps directory. fluxbox -i shows support for xpm files.

Don't know what I'm missing.

thanks,
m

Xfce Menu Custo'ing

Looking for a way to remove the icons from the Xfdesktop menu. I've gotten the actual icons to go away (I created a white 1px x 1px 'icon' and set the file to use that), but I can't figure out how to get the 16 x 16 space for the icon on the left hand side to go away.

I know that a few people here have done it, at least it LOOKED like Xfce. Help me out? kthxbai.

PS - here's a shot: http://xs127.xs.to/xs127/08200/ss449.png

All right so I'm a Linux virgin, and I got a hold of a bootable Ubuntu CD. And all I could do was poke around with what came with it. When my friend ran it on his computer to show it to me, it had internet access. And on mine it doesn't...and I don't know how to access my windows files.

I have been in love with the idea of using such a awesome open source customizable OS for a long time now. But like the title says I'm a Linux retard, and I humbly ask for help and tips for successfully try...

Oh, and does anyone know if Fon still gives out free routers?

Color Picker

I've yet to find a lightweight, standalone color picker that can show hex values! I hate having to open geany's color picker everytime I need to find hex values, and so far, everything else I've heard of doesn't seem to do the trick.

Any suggestions?
